Employer Appreciation Day held at The U.S. Coast Guard Station, Woods Hole

Woods Hole - A crisp but clear New England Autumn Day greeted 16 employers as they toured the US Coast Guard Station at Woods Hole on Cape Cod. Coast Guard Senior Chief Petty Officer Richard Uronis led the group on a tour of the entire facility. All the participants enjoyed an outstanding luncheon at the Landfall Restaurant after the tour of the base was complete. Various members of The MAESGR Committee sat with small groups of employers at the luncheon to clarify USERRA Rules and the mission of ESGR. They included Area chair for Southeastern MA. Joachim-Ingo Borowski, Ombudsman Director Mr. Earl Bonett, Awards Director Mr. Roger Fortin, Program Support Specialist Mr. David St. Germain, and members Wayne Theroux &  Paul Keane.

A Seven-Seals Award was presented to the nearby Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. They received the recognition for their outstanding liaison and support of all the active and reserve units. In addition to the award presentation, twelve Statements of Support were signed.

"This is the right thing to do and the right time to do it because many employers are uncertain of, and concerned, about their responsibilities to employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve" said Mr. St. Germain. "Briefings of this nature, answer employers' questions relating to USERRA compliance and provide suggestions on how best to manage employees who serve America in the National Guard and Reserve."
