Springfield - MA ESGR Area Chair Earl Bonett presented the prestigious Above and Beyond Award to the F.L. Roberts and Company, Inc. in a ceremony on November 6th at the company's 93 West Broad Street facility in Springfield. Accepting the Award for the family-owned business was Mr. Steven Roberts. Staff Sergeant (SSG) William E. Munsell Jr., a five year company employee and member of the MA Army National Guard, nominated his civilian employer for the award to demonstrate his appreciation for the significant support given to him, and his family during his mobilizations. SSG Munsell said his employer continued his benefits, made up the difference in his pay, and most importantly, provided assistance to his family while he was deployed. Also when not deployed, his supervisors adjust his work schedule so it does not conflict with his military schedule.

F.L. Roberts and Company, Inc. has been in business since 1920. Its operations include: gas stations, convenience stores, Jiffy Lube Centers, Golden Nozzle Car Washes, truck refueling facilities, and the Whately Diner. The company had previously signed a statement of support to reflect its long term strong support of the National Guard and Reserve. 

Also attending the event for ESGR were Roger Fortin - Awards Director, and Bill Hebert - Military Outreach Director.
