Boston – During the
middle of November, the Massachusetts Committee for Employer support
of Guard and Reserve operated an ESGR exhibit booth and presented
the critical role of reservists
to the 40,000 design and construction industry professionals in
attendance.
Build
Boston
is the premier regional trade show and convention for the design and
construction industry. During its three day operation, November
18-20, 2008, over 350 exhibitors filled the event hall and over 240
workshops, tours and professional development programs were
presented throughout the facility. MA-ESGR Committee not only
operated the booth, answering questions and handing out ESGR
literature to all that passed by but also reached out and met with
each of the other exhibitors in the main hall. The MA-ESGR Employer
Outreach Director specifically reached out to trade organizations,
looking to develop a strategic partnership.
Developing a relationship with professionals in
construction related industries is important to ESGR since three of
the top ten employers of Guard and Reserve members are in the
construction field. Participating
in this event provided a unique opportunity to reach employers and
supervisors in fields that tend to not have human resource staff and
are difficult to educate in the importance of a strong reserve
program and benefits of supporting their employees that also serve
in the reserve.
