Walpole - On November 28, 2008  Superintendent  Peter St. Amand, and Captain Shawn Silvia of the Massachusetts Correctional Institution, Cedar Junction received Patriot Awards from Mr. John Pelose, MAESGR Area Chair for Eastern MA. Mr. St. Amand and Captain Silvia were nominated for their awards by correctional officers who serve with the Massachusetts Army National Guard. Cedar Junction is the largest correctional facility in Massachusetts. During the ceremony Superintendent St. Amand affirmed his support for all of the guard and reserve members employed at the maximum security facility by signing a Statement of Support.
