Somerset, MA - Somerset , MA - December 8, 2008 Foreign Language Teacher, (Portuguese) and Air Force Reserve TSgt. Anthony Branco nominated and presented The Patriotic Employer Award to Mr. Richard Medeiros, Somerset, MA Superintendent of Schools. Supt. Medeiros was nominated for his outstanding support he provided to the Airman during his recent deployment to the Middle East. As part of the ceremony, MAESGR Awards Director, Mr. Roger Fortin presented Somerset Middle School Principal Mrs. Elizabeth Ponte, Mr. Branco's direct supervisor, with a Certificate of Appreciation for the concern and assistance she provided to Mr. Branco before and during his deployment. When the ceremonies were completed, Superintendent Medeiros was pleased to sign Statement of Support.

During the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Somerset School Committee on 18 December 2008, the Chairman of the School Board Mr. Victor Machado signed a Statement of Support for the Guard & Reserve. Those on hand for the event in addition to the members of the Somerset School Committee were numerous citizens of Somerset, reporters from local media outlets and employees and officials of the Somerset School Department.

Also on hand representing MAESGR was Program Support Specialist Mr. David St. Germain .
