  SECURITY CHIEF IS HONORED WITH A PATRIOT AWARD

LEXINGTON, MA. September 15, 2009. The Chief Security Officer of the Lincoln Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Lexington, MA was awarded the Patriot Award here today. Employee and Air Force Reservist Julie A. Novak recommended her supervisor, Shawn Daley for the honor. Senior Airman (SrA) Novak stated that Mr. Daley and the staff sent multiple care packages during her recent deployment. Colleagues also kept in contact with her through numerous e-mails. Upon returning to work, Mr. Daley arranged a "Welcome Home" Ceremony to honor her and other deployed staff members as well as all employees who are members of the Guard and Reserve.    

The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Committee has more than 35 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Volunteer Beth Lyle and Eastern MA Area Chair John Pelose.
