CANTON, MA. September 30, 2009. Mercer Inc. is a large nationwide company that specializes in consulting, outsourcing and investments. During a ceremony held here today, the CEO, Mr. Jeff Miller, accepted the Above & Beyond Award for Mercer Inc. Mr. Miller stated how proud he and the entire company were of the many members of the National Guard & Reserve forces employed within the company. Mr. Miller had recently signed a Statement of Support and received The Patriot Award. The event was held at a central common area within the headquarters building and was witnessed by several company personnel.   

The award was submitted by Technical Sergeant (TSgt) Jay Salus of the Massachusetts Air National Guard. TSgt Salus was present at the presentation and stated, "My employer has kept all my benefits for me and my family all throughout for the entire tour, even during these hard economic times." 

The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Committee has more than 35 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Staff Member Dave St. Germain, Awards Director, Roger Fortin and Southeastern Area Chair  Joachim-Ingo "Ski" Borowski.
