CAMBRIDGE, MA. November 4, 2009. Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is an academic public health system that provides comprehensive medical services at three hospitals and more than twenty primary care practices. With over 5000 employees, volunteers and hundreds of Harvard-affiliated faculty, the organization serves nearly 400,000 residents in Boston's metro-north region. It has locations in Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Revere, Somerville, and Winthrop, MA. Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Dennis Keefe, who also was a former U S Army Reserve medic, signed the ESGR Statement of Support.  He stressed how important it was for every member of the Cambridge Health Alliance staff to fully support its military personnel and their families and to assist them in any way the organization can.

Among its' over 5000 member workforce, 35 members are also members of the National Guard and Reserve Forces. Currently, 12 of the 35 are deployed on Active Duty in conjunction with Global War on Terror operations around the world. Their Volunteer Health Advisor program includes 200 specially-trained volunteers who spread health information in churches, hair salons, and community centers. This effort is so successful it was recognized by the American Hospital Association as a national model. The Senior Vice President for Human Resources, Ms. Joan Bennett spearheaded the effort to accomplish the signing here today. On hand for the ceremony were numerous senior members of the CHA staff as well as approximately 12 members of their workforce who are currently active members of the Guard & Reserve.
