FIRE CHIEF SIGNS A STATEMENT OF SUPPORT

EASTHAMPTON, MA. November 11, 2009. At 11:00AM on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, Chief David Mottor, the leader of the Easthampton Fire Department, signed a Statement of Support. His goal was to demonstrate his outstanding support for members of the National Guard and Reserves. Chief Mottor was proactive as he went to the ESGR website and requested a Statement of Support. He is a Navy veteran and said he wants to do all he can to support his employees who are also "Citizen Soldiers". Chief Mottor had all available Fire Department employees attend the signing ceremony.

Easthampton, a city with 16,000 residents, is located in the fertile Connecticut River Valley of Western Massachusetts and is rich in the flavor of an industrial New England Village. Easthampton has evolved from a rural farming village to a flourishing mill town and now to a vibrant and diverse community with a wealth of artists, retail shops, restaurants and recreational opportunities. The old mill buildings, once bustling with manufacturing enterprises, now bustle with creative and cultural activities.

The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Committee has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were volunteer Peter Cinq Mars, Western MA Chair and Ombudsman Director Earl Bonett and Staff Member Bill Hebert.
