BLACKSTONE, MA. December 14, 2009. Kimball Sand Company, Inc. was started in 1979 by owner Robert W. Kimball as a small sand and gravel business. It has grown into a large company with a staff of 61 friendly and knowledgeable employees. One of the knowledgeable staff nominated his boss for an award. In a ceremony today at company headquarters, CEO Wayne Kimball was presented The Patriot Award. Mr. Kimball was nominated by Lance Corporal (LCpl) Jacob Shane, United States Marine Corps Reserve. LCpl Shane stated that: "Wayne Kimball provided full support throughout my pre-deployment training, extended drill times and additional duty requirements. I felt comfortable and secure requesting time off for all of the additional requirements!"   

The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Committee has more than 35 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Awards Director Roger Fortin and Program Support Specialists David St. Germain.
