USO FACILITY IN LOGAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SETTING FOR THE SEVEN SEALS AWARD

By Bill Napert, Jr. Public Affairs Director, MAESGR

BOSTON, MA. March 3, 2010. The recently renovated USO lounge in Boston's Logan International Airport was the most fitting location today for the presentation of the Seven Seals Award. Mr. Ed Freni, Director of Aviation, accepted the award on behalf of The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport). In remarks during the ceremony, Mr. Freni stated; "Massachusetts is the original home of the 'Citizen Soldier'.  Massport is proud of our own Minutemen and the support we and other employers around the country can give to the thousands of citizens and fellow workers who volunteer for the National Guard and Reserve. It is fitting that we're here in Logan's USO Lounge! For nearly 30 years, Massport and the USO have maintained this lounge for the comfort of our soldiers and their families as comfortable as possible!"

"Just a few years ago, we renovated this lounge so that our soldiers and their families could relax in the comfort of their own living room while waiting for flights to take them to their next assignment, no matter where that might be. This is just one of the ways that Massport supports the members of our armed forces!" In the not to distant past, Massport signed a Statement of Support, reaffirming their commitment to Guard and Reserve Members, Massport has also received the Patriot and The Above and Beyond Awards for their generosity to their employee "Citizen Soldiers" with the continuation of salary and health benefits while the serve their country, Mr. Freni closed his remarks by noting how proud he was to accept the award for Massport and Logan International Airport and all the men and women who wear our nation's uniform.
