Hyannis, MA. March 4, 2010. Another General Manager in one of the largest chains of grocery stores in New England was honored with The Patriot Award today. Mr. David Hardiman accepted the honor on behalf of the store in that facility here today. Mr. Hardiman was nominated for the honor by Army National Guard First Sergeant (1SG) and store employee, Earle Eldridge. 1SG Eldridge stated in his narration; "Mr. Hardiman has shown exceptional support of me and my unit throughout his tenure as Store Manager. When told of my pending deployment, he took time out of his schedule to make sure the paperwork for my military leave of absence was completed. He also made several calls to HR to see what benefits I could be entitled to while deployed. As a member of a Guard unit that often gets called for State mobilizations, I  have never had a problem for missing scheduled work hours. He is truly an outstanding supervisor." The ceremony was attended by seven employees.  

The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Committee has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Volunteer Roger Fortin and Program Support Specialist David St. Germain.
