TOWN OF FALMOUTH , MA RENEWS IT’S COMMITMENT TO THEIR GUARD AND RESERVE MEMBERS

FALMOUTH, MA. April 26, 2010. The town meeting is one of the best examples in the United States of America of democracy at work. Monday night, one of the oldest towns in Massachusetts held one such gathering. The Town of Falmouth convened a meeting with the full Board of Selectmen and towns people in attendance. All business was put aside for briefings from the Massachusetts Army National Guard (MA ARNG) and The Massachusetts Committee for The Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve (MAESGR). They began with a brief by Major Koski, MA ARNG, regarding the major training event scheduled for Camp Edwards this coming summer. The next item of business on the agenda was an ESGR brief to the selectmen by MAESGR Field Chair Tom Boyle that included photos from the recent Boss lift to Fort Sill. One of the Falmouth Selectmen, Cary Murphy, was on the Fort Sill Boss Lift and Mr. Boyle's brief had a couple of pictures of him. The presentations were very well received by all present. After the brief, all gathered around while Town Manager Robert L. Whritenour, Jr. penned the Statement of Support.

The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Committee has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Field Chair Tom Boyle and Training Director Wayne Theroux.
