NEWTON, MA. April 28, 2010. Maguire Plumbing has been a staple in Newton Massachusetts for many years. They also are strong supporters of their military employees. One such technician is also a Staff Sergeant (SSG) in the Army National Guard. Mr. Anthony Farese put his boss and CEO of the company, Mr. Dennis V. Maguire in for the prestigious Above & Beyond Award. In his narrative the Staff Sergeant wrote: "Dennis paid me for almost fourteen weeks while I was attending leadership training prior to being deployed to Afghanistan. Before I left he made sure that my wife was informed to call him if there was anything he could do to assist her. He gave my children Red Sox and Bruins tickets to keep them occupied and has continued to support me way beyond what most employers would be expected to do! It is a pleasure to work for such an understanding company as Maguire!" There were more than 10 staff members on hand for the presentation of the award by MAESGR'S South Eastern Area Chair and Senior Ombudsman Joachim-Ingo "Ski" Borowski.  

The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Committee has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were South Eastern Area Chair and Senior Ombudsman Joachim-Ingo "Ski" Borowski, Volunteer Roger Fortin and Program Support Specialist David St. Germain.
