 CITY OF QUINCY TRAFFIC AND PARKING DEPARTMENT RECEIVES THE PATRIOT AWARD

                              

  

 

                     

    QUINCY, MA. June 7, 2010. Today, in historic City Hall overlooking the "City of Presidents", Mr. Fred Sousa was presented the Patriot award. Mr. Sousa was nominated for the honor by employee and Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Michael Callahan of the MA Air National Guard (ANG). Mr. Sousa stated that he was proud to be working alongside SSgt Callahan who will be deploying shortly for operations with the Air National Guard. Superintendent Sousa went on to say; "His period of employment here with the City of Quincy has been memorable, his actions daily have been exemplary, and we are proud to support his military deployment and will be waiting for his return to work at its completion".  

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Field Office has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were South Eastern MA Area Chair and Senior Ombudsman Joachim-Ingo "Ski" Borowski, Volunteer Roger Fortin and Program Support Specialist David St. Germain.
