NEW BEDFORD, MA. June 15, 2010. Little
People's College was started by two sisters who are certified, experienced
elementary and nursery school teachers, as well as mothers. Joyce
taught in the Fairhaven Public School System and
Sandy
taught in the New Bedford Public School System. Both sisters plan
and oversee the curriculum and activities at each of their 14
locations. Private First Class (PFC) Yesenia Miranda, US Army Reserve,
is also an employee at one of the New Bedford locations. Ms. Miranda
recommended her Program Director, Ms. Fernanda Lewis for The Patriot Award. In
her acceptance of the honor, Ms. Lewis said; "I knew when I
hired Yesenia Miranda that I was getting a truly special employee. Her
efforts here at Little People's College in her 3 years of employment
have been truly remarkable. I am especially proud of her efforts in
service to the country in the US Army Reserve. We await her return
from deployment with open arms. We are indeed blessed to have her
serving both Little People's College and the Nation!"
Little People's College Mission is to

to their fullest potential physically, emotionally, socially and
cognitively.
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of
Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain
and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by
recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA
law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Field
Office has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every
"Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were
Volunteer Roger Fortin and Program Support Specialist David St. Germain.
