CHICOPEE, MA. July 9, 2010. Mr. Anthony Willis, Chief of Plans & Programs with the 439th Air Wing at Westover Air Reserve Base, was honored with the Patriot Award today in front of many of his co-workers.  

In the nomination of his boss, TSgt Desmond Farrell stated: "My supervisor goes overboard in allowing me to fulfill my duties as a reservist. Not only does he assist me in my endeavors but also checks the well being of my family as well." Upon receiving the award, Mr. Willis praised the work ethic of TSgt Farrell.  

 Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Field Office has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Ombudsman Director and Western MA Area Chair Earl Bonett and Staff Member Bill Hebert.
