        MASSACHUSETTS POLICE CHIEF AND HONOR GUARD CAPTAIN RECEIVE THE PATRIOT AWARD

 

                              

  

 

                     

    WALTHAM, MA. July 5, 2010. Chief of Police Thomas Lacroix and Captain Donald Feeney (Commander of the Honor Guard) were each presented the Patriot Award here today. They were nominated by police officer, Kevin Duffey. Officer Duffey is also a Sergeant in the U. S. Army Reserve. In nominating the two honorees, the Army SGT wrote: "Chief Lacroix and Capt Don Feeney go out of their way to assist myself and the other members of the Guard & Reserve who are employed by the Waltham Police Department. Their support and concern for their personnel and their families far exceed what is reasonably expected from any employer. I am proud of them and of all of the personnel of the Waltham PD." Chief Lacroix accepted the award on behalf of the Department and Captain Feeney accepted the award on behalf of the Department Honor Guard. The awards were presented by South Eastern Area Chair and Senior Ombudsman Joachim-Ingo "Ski" Borowski who is a retired police chief.  

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Committee has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were South Eastern Area Chair and Senior Ombudsman Joachim-Ingo "Ski" Borowski, Volunteer Roger Fortin and Program Support Specialist David St. Germain.
