MA STATE POLICE HQ, FRAMINGHAM, MA. July 12, 2010. Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Eric Bernstein, US Coast Guard Reserve is also a Sergeant in The Massachusetts State Police. Sgt Bernstein recommended Ms. Linda Turner, the Military Leave Benefits Coordinator for the State Police for the ESGR Patriot Award. In his nomination, the Sgt stated: "Linda Turner has developed a comprehensive power point presentation that describes the benefits and processes for employees departing and returning from military leave. She personally meets with each employee before they depart on ML to ensure that payroll, insurance and other benefits are taken care of and then remains in contact with them during their leave to resolve any issues." Ms. Turner was presented the Award in the presence of the Entire Human Resources Department. 

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Field Office has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Volunteer Roger Fortin, South Eastern MA Area Chair and Senior Ombudsman Joachim-Ingo "Ski" Borowski and Program Support Specialist David St. Germain.
