HANOVER, MA. July 14, 2010. As Staff Sergeant (SSG) Alan Mixer US Army Reserve was doing his duty, he thought about how well his supervisor and Sears Inc. have treated his service obligations to his country. He nominated his Manager, Patrick Cole, for the Patriot Award. When he was presented the award, Mr. Cole stated that he was surprised and pleased that Alan had nominated him for the award. Mr. Cole thought he was just trying to do his duty for a fellow employee. Sears Inc. has an outstanding record of support and concern for their military member employees and Mr. Cole is happy to be a Sears Manager. He and Sears Inc. are proud to be strong supporters of America's men and women of the Guard & Reserve. 

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Field Office has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Volunteer Roger Fortin and Program Support Specialist David St. Germain.
