SPRINGFIELD, MA. July 19, 2010. Ophthalmologist Brian K. Bredvik, MD, was the recipient of the Patriot Award early today at the Springfield Eye Associates newly constructed modern office in Springfield. The practice consists of four board certified Ophthalmologists and one Optometrist. Doctor Bredvik was nominated for this award by employee Dale Edwards who is a Technical Sergeant (TSgt) in the US Air Force Reserve.  

Dr. Bredvik said he was honored to receive this recognition but that it is service members such as Dale who deserve all the honors. Dr. Bredvik was so pleased and proud to receive the award he insisted that most of the credit goes to the staff and insisted that all be included in the photograph of the event! 

 
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Field Office has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Volunteer Diane Swain and Ombudsman Director and Western MA Area Chair Earl Bonett.
