COMCAST IN MALDEN IS RECOGNIZED FOR OUTSTANDING SUPPORT

MALDEN, MA. July 21, 2010. When a Cable system isn't working properly customers call Comcast in Malden for quick support. When one of Comcast employees received a call to service, he too turned to Comcast in Malden and received the same quick support he was accustomed to giving customers. Airman First Class (A1C) Nate Gouveia of the Air National Guard (ANG) stated; "My supervisor was very concerned with my being ready to deploy. She is very understanding and considerate". A1C Gouveia went on to state; "Both my Supervisor and the Company go above and beyond to recognize and support my military service. They should be recognized for their patriotic spirit."

In recognition of such a strong recommendation ,members of the Massachusetts Committee for Employer Support of Guard and Reserve (MAESGR) traveled to Comcast in Malden to present the Above & Beyond award to Mike Pascarelli, Comcast Site Manager and Ms. Annette Alford, A1C Gouveia's supervisor. Ms. Alford attended the ceremony in an air force blue T-shirt with the ANG logo imprinted on the front. She stated that her entire team was in blue T-shirts in honor of their team member. All present expressed their strong support for those that serve and in particular for relatives, friends and colleagues.

Although Comcast in Malden policies go well beyond what is required by law, IP Technical Manager Concetta Morris signed a Statement of Support pledge on behalf of the office. The importance of such a pledge is the reassurance it conveys to service members that their job will be protected and they will be welcomed back when they return to civilian life.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Field Office has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Frank Reidy and Joe Ryan.
