SHREWSBURY, MA. August 5, 2010. Staff Sergeant (SSgt) John Connelly, U. S. Air Force Reserve is also an associate for The Home Depot here in town. Mr. Connelly is a very happy employee of this particular store. In his nomination of two of his managers for The Patriot Award, John wrote; "Home Depot provides pay difference for me and the company has been very supportive of my career. This is the fourth mobilization since I started working here! Kim Gabrielle and Kat Constantine, my shift managers, are constantly supportive of my drills and training." MAESGR Central Area Chair, Tony Ingrisano went on to add that that the two patriots helped out the Staff Sergeant by changing shifts at his request and even promoting him from cashier to the Flooring Department where he would have more flexible hours. Prior to the ceremony, Store Manager, Mr. Andrew Brian signed a Statement of Support. The Home Depot is one of the corporations that also provide a ten percent discount on all purchases to any veteran.  

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Field Office has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR was Central MA Area Chair Tony Ingrisano.
