MILTON, MA. August 13, 2010. Army Reserve Corporal Russell Winthrop also serves as a police officer on The Milton Police Department. He recently nominated his Chief, Richard Wells, Jr. for the Patriot award. Accepting the award on behalf of the Police Chief, and the department, was Deputy Chief Charles Parish. Speaking for the Chief, Deputy Parish stated said that Chief Wells was very pleased to receive this nomination for the Patriot Award from Corporal Winthrop. He also said that he was accepting this award on behalf of all of the members of the Milton Police Department. He further stated that Officer Winthrop brings a high standard of performance to the job of police officer. His core values learned in the Army Reserve and police training in the Military Police Field provided to Corporal Winthrop have greatly added to the operational efficiency of the Milton Police Department.

 

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Field Office has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Volunteers South Eastern Area Chair and Senior Ombudsman Joachim-Ingo "Ski" Borowski and Roger Fortin and Program Support Specialist David St. Germain.
