SUFFOLK COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE HONORED WITH THE ABOVE AND BEYOND AWARD

By; Bill Napert, Jr. Public Affairs Director, MAESGR.

BOSTON, MA. August 17, 2010. The Above and Beyond Award is one of highest honors that an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Field Office can bestow on an employer. It is recommended and given in limited numbers by The State Field Chair. It recognizes employers at the state and local level who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements for granting leave and providing support for military duty by their employees. One such employer in Massachusetts is the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.

MAESGR Field Chair Tom Boyle dispatched South Eastern Area Chair and Senior Ombudsman Joachim-Ingo "Ski" Borowski and Program Support Specialist David St. Germain to the Suffolk County DA's Office today to present the coveted honor to District Attorney Daniel Conley. The DA received the award for his outstanding support of the military members in the office of the Suffolk County District Attorney. District Attorney Conley stated how honored he was to be accepting this award on behalf of the staff of his office. However, he strongly believes that the real honor belongs to the members of the Guard & Reserve throughout the Commonwealth. These men and women daily do their duty, protecting the Nation and securing our day to day life here at home. He went on to say that he feels all employers, public and private, should fully support their citizen soldier employees and their families during our current struggle against terrorism worldwide.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the USERRA law of 1994 and resolving conflicts through mediation. The MA Field Office has more than 40 volunteers dedicated to helping every "Citizen Soldier". On hand representing MAESGR were Volunteer South Eastern Area Chair and Senior Ombudsman Joachim-Ingo "Ski" Borowski and Program Support Specialist David St. Germain.
